Study, preparation and construction of the Operas:


“The Marriage of Figaro” by W. A. ​​Mozart


“The Barber of Seville” by G. Rossini

Masterclass for opera conductors that wish to deepen and improve their technique and interpretation, trying to analyze and then solve the various problems associated with them. The course includes the study of “The Marriage of Figaro” and “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” with Julius Kalmar, Giovanni Pacor and Romolo Gessi.

We study analysis, technique and interpretation in the opera repertoire, musical rehearsals with piano, orchestra and singers with a final staging of the Operas studied. There are live performances in concert by the end of the course, where participants will participate with their study. Each work includes some steps to strengthen the foundation and technical bases of direction:

– Analysis and study of the score at the piano

Preparation of the singers

– Application to the orchestral practice with the Orchestra, orchestra rehearsals and directing the preparation of the final concerts.

The best participants will be included in the final concert with orchestra.

Admission: singers and conductors of all nationalities and all ages can take part in these courses.

Price: € 900 (deposit of 200 €  to confirm the enrollment and the balance of 700 € within July 28th

Optional Italian language course: non-Italian students will have the option to improve or perfect their knowledge of the Italian language with a series of lessons based on the PLIDA (Progetto Lingua Italiana Dante Alighieri) with qualified teachers at the Centro Studi Idea Verona.

Arena di Verona: throughout the duration of the courses, the organization, in collaboration with the Fondazione Arena di Verona, will assist the participants’ entry into some rehearsals and performances of the operatic season in Arena.
